A robust, woody, climbing shrub, with long, trailing and prickly branches. Leaves bipinnate, pinnae 4-6 pairs: leaflets coriaceous, oblong, obtuse or subobtuse; flowers orange, sessile, in dense spicate racemes; pods linear-oblong, with thickened sutures; seeds 3-4, obovate-oblong, transverse, with a thick, bony testa.
