A very variable, climbing or wide-spreading, hairy herb. Stems slender, more or less adpressedly hairy; leaves 3-foliolate, 6-12 cm long: leaflets membranous or subcoriaceous, elliptic, ovate- oblong, lateral oblique, 2.0-2.5 cm x3.8-6.3 cm, terminal slightly larger; flowers red, pink, purple or white in lax, axillary racemes; pods narrowly linear, straight or recurved; seeds oblong, truncate or slightly rounded, smooth, dark brown.

Astringent and aphrodisiac (fruit); antipyretic (fruit and plant); anticancer and hypoglycemic (seed oil); antiinflammatory (plant).
