Description |

A large, monoecious tree, up to 76.0 m in height and 4.8 m in girth, with a straight cylindrical bole. Bark brownish grey, smooth, inner bark fibrous; leaves 10-20 cm long, oblong or elliptic, glossy, base rounded or cordate; male flowers crowded on surface of an orbicular, axillary receptacle; female flowers solitary; fruits like small figs, purple, scarlet or crimson, pyriform, single seeded, velvety and intensely bitter when young; ripe fruits are reported to be edible. |
