A tree of 15 m hight. Leaves imparipinnate; leaflets opposite, thinly coriaceous, elliptic-oblong, usually acuminate, upper surface glabrous, base cuneate; petioles 3 to 12 cm long. Flowers globular, in axillary pyramidally elongate panicles 8 to 20 cm long. Calyx appressedly lepidote, pubescent outside; lobes 5. Petals yellow, 1 cm long, much longer than the calyx. Fruit berry, pyriform, velvety-tomentose, buff coloured. Seed 1, ellipsoid.
