An unarmed, dioecious, large shrub or a small tree 8 m high. Bark smooth, thin, rusty or reddish brown; leaves very variable, elliptic, ovate, obovate or orbicular, 2.5-7.5 cm x 1.6-4.5 cm; flowers minute, greenish yellow, scented, in axillary clusters, male numerous; female whitish, generally few; berries globose, 2 types; 3-4 mm with dry pericarp; 8 mm with fleshy, white pericarp; seeds 3-6 in a fruit, punctate. |
