Stipes stout, 20-25 cm long, covered with large, lanceolate,reddish brown scales at base, upper stipe and rachis without scales; fronds monomorphic, lanceolate, bipinnatifid, 30-100 cm long; texture subcoriaceous, pinnae linear, cut 3/4 way to costa, median pinnae 15-30 cm long, 4-9 cm wide; segments on either side of costa about equal; with single large scaly bud just below apex of frond, attached to rachis base of second and third pinna. Sori parallel to costules, linear, discrete, indusia linear, opening towards costules.
