A glabrous, erect or decumbent herb, 15-45 cm in height. Leaves 5-15 cm long, lanceolate-oblong or narrowly lanceolate, semi-amplexicaul, flowers pale blue, lilac or white in globose, compound heads; achenes obovoid, dark brown, ribbed, flattened.
