Bark is rough, whitish to gray, peeling off in thick round flakes; leaves are coriaceous, ovate or oblong. entire; flowers are white, fragrant, in terminal corymbose panicles; capsules are ovoid, pale brown, fleshy, 8-11 cm. Iong, 3.5-6.0 cm. in diameter, 1-seeded; seeds are reddish white or cream- coloured, filled with fat. |

Medicinal Use |

Used for the treatment of several diseases, such as throat troubles, chronic bronchitis, piles, diarrhoea, rheumatism, tubercular glands, boils, etc. It forms a good emollient for plasters and ointment bases. Bark is orally administered to prevent vomiting. |
