An annual herb that grows to a height of over 2 ft (0.6 m). Leaves are oval to heart shaped and up to 4 in (10 cm). The flowers are usually blue (though sometimes white, pink, or purple), the heads borne in dense corymbs. The ray flowers are threadlike.
