A slow growing perennial herb that grows to a length of 12 to 18 inches and reaches a diameter of up to 40 mm (1 ½ in). Rhizomes thickened and rooted. Leaves large and heart shaped. Flowers delicate white and star shaped; 4-merous, petals 4 and sepals 4; begin to blossom early spring.

Antiaggregant, anticancer, decongestant, diaphoretic and digestive
The root is a pungent warming herb that stimulates the digestion. It is used internally as an antidote to fish poison. It is also indicated in treating fever, sinusosisand thrombosis.
