A large monoecious or dioecious tree. Leaves are simple and alternate or rarely opposite. Flowers are unisexual and minute; male inflorescent is smooth and cylindric, 5 to 8 centimeters long. Fruit is elipsoid, 10 centimeters long and 7 centimeters in diameter. Antocarps are extended into 1 centimeter long, apiculate appendages.Seeds are ellipsoid and about 1 centimeters in length.
