Inflorescence long-pedunculate, dichotomous in first branchings and further variably monochasial, 8—30 cm x 5—20 cm, few- to many-flowered; flowers foul-smelling or sweet-scented, calyx nearly cylindrical, not clasping the corolla tube, 1—2 cm long from the abscission layer, corolla 2—4.5 cm long, corolla tube almost cylindrical to bottle-shaped, twisted or sometimes not, white, creamy, or sometimes yellow, stamens slightly exserted to barely included. Fruit consisting of 2 free, partly or completely united carpels, separate carpels subglobose, 3—6 cm in diameter, fused carpels shaping a laterally compressed, transversely elliptical fruit up to 12 cm x 15 cm x 10 cm, pale yellow or dark green with many small pale grey-brown warts, fruit wall 5—25 mm thick, aril orange. |
