A tree up to 10 m tall, branches armed with branched thorns up to 15 cm long. Leaves up to 12 cm long, usually bipinnate with 2—4 pairs of pinnae, leaflets oblong, 2—3.5 cm x 1—2 cm, crenulate. Inflorescence a downy raceme or panicle up to 15 cm long, flowers 5 mm in diameter, pedicel short. Fruit oblongoid, up to 12 cm x 2 cm, smooth, up to 10-seeded; seed 10 mm x 7 mm, brown.
