General Info
Description
An erect tree, up to 30 m tall. Leaves are opposite, lanceolate to oblong, 20-35 cm long and 10-19 cm broad, glossy dark green, with an entire margin. Flowers are white, yellow or red, with a five-lobed corolla 5-6 cm diameter. Fruit n ellipsoid to ovoid berry, 9—15 cm x 7—9 cm, yellow-brown, weighing 200—400 g; flesh whitish, filled with numerous flat yellow-brown seeds.
Herb Effects
Acts as vermifuge and diuretic (fruits); purgative (root decoction)
Used against diarrhea (bark); eaten as a remedy for jaundice, and brewed into a tea and taken as a remedy for bronchitis (fruits); applied on venereal sores and pharyngitis (crushed green fruit and the bark decoction).
