Inflorescence raceme; flower ebracteate, pedicellate, zygomorphic, bisexual, complete, pendulous; sepals 5, gamosepalous, above short lobes, beneath cup-shaped tube; petals 5, polypetalous, vaxillary, one standard, 0.8 cm long and 0.75 cm wide, ovate, apical grooved, not notched; stamens 10 (9 + 1) diadelphous, anthers remain free, anthers bilobed, basifixed, introse, inserted; carpels 2, syncarpous, ovary superior, conical shaped, single chambered, marginal placentation; style 1, terminal, glabrous, terete, stigma absent; Fruit pod, 4 cm long, shuttle shaped, flattened, one margin thicker than other, two seeds in each pod.

Used as a diuretic, laxative, expectorant and emmenagogue (stems).
