A creeping perennial plant. Its trailing stems root at the nodes. Leaves are borne on long stalks. It blooms in June - August with yellow flowers (about 2 cm in diameter) that have 5 heart-shaped petals.

Antispasmodic, astringent and febrifuge (roots and herb).
In the treatment of diarrhoea, as a gargle for sore throats and is used externally as an astringent lotion (infusion of dried herb); relieves toothache (root decoction); for stopping nosebleed and other internal bleeding (root bark)
