A shrub growing up to 1 to 2 m tall. Leaves are petiolate and the petioles are 17 to 34 cm long; the leaf blade is dentalobulate, pentagonal, 20 to 26 cm long and 34 to 40 cm wide. Male and female flowers are borne on either the same plant or different plants, although most plants are dioecious. Fruit is small (10 to 15 cm), five-sided and yellow; one tree producing up to 50-60 fruits per season.
Used to treat arterial sclerosis (fruit); against skin mycosis and verruca plane, in the treatment of enteritis in children during the teething period, and against diabetes and liver diseases (latex).
