A tall stately tree, 50-60 ft. high, with fluted trunk and rather short spreading branches. Leaves obovate or oblanceolate, 6-12 in. long and 3-5.5 in. broad, rather leathery, with a stout midrib; fruits sub-globose, 3-4.5 in. diam., yellow with fleshy pericarp nearly one inch thick; seeds 8-10, enclosed in a pulpy aril.
