Description |

A prickly or scabrid, climbing herb with quadrangular stems. Rootstocks perennial, with fleshy roots; leaves 4-6 in whorls, usually elliptic, sometimes elliptic-lanceolate; flowers greenish yellow in terminal and axillary panicles of cymes; fruit globose, red to black. |
