A perennial, twining, scabrid herb, 15-20 ft. in height. Aerial stems (bines) oppositely branched, angular, flexible; leaves opposite, stipulate: lower larger, 3-5 lobed, upper smaller, ovate or cordate, serrate, minutely prickly, petioles long; male flowers small, greenish yellow, arranged in paniculate cymes; female flowers in cone-like inflorescences; fruit an achene. |
