An antiimplantation agent is a substance which reduces the likelihood of implantation of the fertilized egg in the endometrium. It acts by inducing changes in the endometrial wall of uterus, leaving it unprepared for the process of implantation. It is used as a birth control agent.
Emmenagogue, abortifacient, refrigerant, demulcent, emetic, purgative and abortive (leaves). Root is astringent; seeds are corrective of blood, antiimplantation and toxic to the liver.
