Gastroenteritis is a condition that causes irritation and inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract, especially the stomach and intestines. Gastroenteritis can be caused by viral, bacterial, or parasitic infections. The common routes of infection include food (especially seafood), contaminated water, contact with an infected person, unwashed hands and dirty utensils. Gastroenteritis is also called intestinal flu, traveler's diarrhea, viral enteritis, and food poisoning. Gastroenteritis usually starts suddenly with symptoms of vomiting, diarrhea and fever. The other symptoms can include loss of appetite, abdominal cramps, abdominal pain, bloating, lethargy and body aches, and rarely blood and pus in stools. Gastroenteritis usually is of acute onset, normally lasting less than 10 days and self-limiting. But it may be life-threatening in debilitated people. |

Nelumbo nucifera |

The plant is a folk folk remedy for cancer, modern research has isolated certain compounds from the plant that show anticancer activity. Ocimum basilicum |
