Pruritis, also known pruritus is defined as an unpleasant sensation on the skin that provokes the desire to rub or scratch the area to obtain relief. Itchy skin can occur without any other noticeable changes on the skin. It may be rarely associated with redness, bumps, spots or blisters, dry, cracked skin and leathery or scaly texture to the skin. Pruritis can result from drug reaction, food allergy, kidney or liver disease, cancers, parasites, aging or dry skin, contact skin reaction, such as poison ivy, and for unknown reasons. |
