Psoriasis is a skin disease that causes itchy or sore scaly patches of thick, red skin with silvery scales. The scaly patches caused by psoriasis, called psoriatic plaques or lesions. Plaques frequently occur on the skin of the elbows and knees, but can affect any area including the scalp and genitals. Fingernails and toenails are frequently affected (psoriatic nail dystrophy). Psoriasis can also cause inflammation of the joints, which is known as psoriatic arthritis. Psoriasis is not contagious.

Useful herbs

Abies canadensis

In leucorrhoea, prolapsus uteri, prolapsus ani, diarrhoea, gangrene, and in aphthous and other oral ulcerations (bark); pleurisy orchitis from mumps, peritonitis, and all inflammations caused by cold, to all sprains and bruises and to lumbago, rheumatism and sciatica, in herpes, moist eczema, fevers and psoriasis (oil)

Aloe vera

As a tonic, in amenorrhea, asthma, boils, bruises, burns (including those from radiation), stomach cancer, common cold, cough, digestive disorders, fever, hemorrhages, hysteria, inflammation, eye problems, jaundice, cirrhosis, hepatitis, stomach ulcers, colitis, wound, scald, dry skin, conjunctivitis, psoriasis, hair fall, rosacea, warts and eczema; prevents opportunistic infections in cases of HIV and AIDS.

Ammi majus

In leukoderma and psoriasis (plant decoction); in asthma and angina (Seed infusion); in toothache (Seed decoction)

Andira araroba

In the treatment of herpes circinatus, porrigo scutulata, porrigo decalvans, sycosis, cramps, favus, psoriasis, ringworm, tapeworm, eczema, lichen, acne, and other diseases of the skin.

Betula pubescens

In the treatment of various skin afflictions, especially eczema and psoriasis (inner bark); in the treatment of gout, dropsy and rheumatism, and is recommended as a reliable solvent of kidney stones (leaves)

Carica papaya

Hydnocarpus kurzii

In leprosy, scabies, eczema, psoriasis, scrofula, ringworm and intestinal worms (seed oil) and reducing fever (bark)

Leucas aspera

Colds (flower); as a toothbrush (twig); as an insecticidal (plant); for psoriasis and chronic skin eruptions (leaf juice); in chronic rheumatism (leaves); for cough and colds in children (flowers with honey). In headache, juice of the root is put into the nostril.

Lonicera japonica

In dysentery, chronic psoriasis, to reduce blood pressure (plant); acute rheumatoid arthritis, mumps and hepatitis (stems); upper respiratory tract infections (including pneumonia) and dysentery (stem and flowers together); syphilitic skin diseases and tumors, bacterial dysentery, colds, enteritis, pain, swellings etc (flower buds)

Pastinaca sativa

In the treatment of women's complaints (in menstrual cramps, premenstrual syndrome and menopausal disorders), psoriasis, vitiligo and bed wetting in chidren (root)

Pinellia ternata

Strengthens the spleen, very effective in controlling nausea and vomiting, for coughs with thin watery phlegm and gastritis (root); To treat cancer, depression, dermatosis, diarrhea, dyspepsia, gonorrhea, headache, hiccup, insomnia, jaundice , leukemia, leukorrhea, nausea, nephrosis, pharyngosis, psoriasis, rheumatism, snakebite.

Pluchea lanceolata

For inflammations and bronchitis, psoriasis, cough and piles (Plant) ; To prevent swellings of joint in arthritis, rheumatism and neurological diseases (decoction of plant); is highly effective in sciatica, muscular sprains and joint pains (leaf extract).

Spilanthes acmella

For malaria, toothache (flower); promotes salivation (seed); to treat dysentery (plant); used as a bath for relieving rheumatism and as a lotion for scabies and psoriasis (decoction).

Thespesia populnea

Scabies (fruit, root and leaf); migraine and insect bites (fruit); dysentery (bark powder); for the treatment of skin diseases such as eczema, scabies, psoriasis, ringworm and guinea worm (bark, leaves, flowers and fruits); for treatment of dysentery, piles and diabetes (plant); as an external wash in the treatment of skin diseases (bark decoction); to relieve inflamed and swollen joints (leaf as poultice).

Vernonia cinerea

Useful for the purifying the blood, bile and semen, used as a specific for leucorrhoea, menorrhagia, and in the treatment of chronic skin diseases, dysuria, strangury, bladder stones, piles, worms and haematological disorders (plant); for the treatment of amoebiosis, humid herpes, eczema and ringworm and for the extraction of guinea worms, elephantiasis (leaf juice); to treat fevers, rheumatism and conjunctivitis (flowers); effective against roundworms and threadworms, leucoderma, psoriasis and other chronic skin diseases (seeds).

Wrightia tinctoria

In hemorrhoids and skin disorders (such as psoriasis) (bark); dysentery (seed); dermatitis. It is effective in psoriasis and nonspecific dermatitis. The leaves are used in various skin disorders including herpes. It has antidandruff activity and is used in the treatment of various scalp and skin disorders.
