Anuria is the failure of the kidneys to excrete urine. It is most often associated with acute kidney failure and any condition causing decreased blood supply to the kidney. Acute kidney failure has many known causes such as high blood calcium, antifreeze, various drugs, dehydration, bleeding, Addison's disease, congestive heart failure, anesthesia, blood clots and infections. All of these can result in anuria. Anuria also can be a symptom of polycystic kidney disease. |
