Health Remedies - Low Sperm Count |
|
|
Low sperm count is medically termed oligospermia. A normal sperm count is 20 million or more sperm per milliliter of semen. In order to father a child, at least 60 percent of those sperm should have a normal shape and show normal forward movement (motility). A sperm count below 20 million per mL of semen may cause infertility. There are many factors which influence a good sperm count, such as age, emotional stress, overheating of testicles, smoking, alcholism, substance abuse, malnutrition, obesity, tight clothing, bicycling, exposure to radiation and heavy metals, varicocele etc. Certain medications such as anabolic steroids, antihypertensives, erythromycin, chemotherapy, cyclosporine, tetracycline etc. also influence the sperm count. |
