Low libido is lack of sex drive or sexual desire. It may affect both men and women, but more common in women. The causes can be either physical or psychological. Possible physical causes in men include alcoholism, anaemia, obesity, diabetes, hyperprolactinaemia etc. Psychological causes of lowered male sexual desire include depression, stress, gay relationships etc. Possible physical causes in females include anaemia, drug abuse, diabetes, post-delivery changes, hyperprolactinaemia etc. The common psychological causes in women are anxiety, stress, depression, overwork, past sexual abuse, lesbian relationships etc. The normal libido can be achieved by medical or psychological therapy. |
