Health Remedies - Hypertriglyceridemia
Hypertriglyceridemia is a condition characterized by very high levels of triglycerides in the blood. It is a commonly encountered lipid abnormality frequently associated with other lipid and metabolic derangements such as abdominal obesity, diabetes mellitus, low high-density lipoprotein (HDL), hypertension, hypothyroidism etc. A normal blood triglyceride level is 40 to 150 mg/dL. Triglyceride levels over 150 mg/dL is said to be elevated and causes a high risk factor for coronary heart disease and arteriosclerosis.
The treatment of hypertriglyceridemia is more focused towards controlling conditions that can raise triglyceride levels, such as obesity, hypothyroidism, and diabetes, which in turn reduces the blood triglyceride levels.
Problems of the bowel and in rheumatism (fruit rind decoction); able to decrease the acidity and to increase the mucosal defence in the gastric areas, thereby justifying its use as an antiulcerogenic agent, as a heart tonic and lowers the production of triglycerides and cholesterol. It also has the ability to slow production of fat and help the body metabolize it more efficiently.
As a tonic (fruit); treating people with high levels of blood triglycerides and cholesterol, to treat heart diseases, consumption, spermaturia, skin diseases, fracture, intrinsic haemorrhage, wounds, piles, diarrhoea and as a liver tonic (bark).
