Hangover or Veisalgia are the physiological effects following heavy consumption of alcoholic beverages. A hangover is caused by a combination of the toxic by-product of alcohol metabolism (acetaldehyde), dehydration, hypoglycemia and Vitamin depletion caused by the chemical action of alcohol in the body. The common symptoms are dry mouth, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, fatigue, dizziness, sensitivity to light and noise, and thirst. Hangovers usually last 12 to 36 hours. Rarely the effects may last from 48 to 72hrs. |
