Abies spectabilis

A resin from the tree is mixed with oil of roses and applied externally to relieve symptoms of neuralgia. The juice of the fresh leaves is given to infants suffering from fever and chest infection and also during dentition.

Abroma augusta

As a uterine tonic, in neuralgia, dysmenorrhoea and regulates menstrual flow (juice of root bark); diabetes, rheumatic pain and sinusitis (leaf).

Aconitum chasmanthum

Rheumatism, diarrhea and neuralgia

Aconitum ferox

Rheumatism, neuralgia, leprosy, fever and chest discomfort. In India in the treatment of leprosy, fevers, cholera and rheumatism (Chopra et al., 1986)

Acorus gramineus

To bleeding gums (root powder); in the treatment of digestive problems - particularly gastralgia and diarrhoea, cough, bronchial asthma, neurasthenia, depression, epilepsy, body parasites, dermatosis and haemorrhoids(root)

Adhatoda vasica

For asthma and intermittent fever; used also as an expectorant in cases of chronic bronchitis and phthisis. On rheumatic joints, as a counter-irritant on inflammatory swellings, on fresh wounds, urticaria and in neuralgia.

Aesculus hippocastanum

Reduces fluid retention by increasing the permeability of the capillaries and allowing the re-absorption of excess fluid back into the circulatory system, for the treatment of a wide range of venous diseases, including hardening of the arteries, varicose veins, phlebitis, leg ulcers, haemorrhoids and frostbite (plant); in the treatment of malaria and dysentery, externally in the treatment of lupus and skin ulcers (tea from bark); fevers and whooping cough (leaves); in the treatment of rheumatism, neuralgia and haemorrhoids (seeds)

Albizia lebbeck

For boils (flower); in leprosy, asthma, skin diseases, leucoderma, sprains, wounds, neuralgia, nightblindness, diarrhoea (stem bark).

Brassica nigra

For indurations of the liver and spleen, carcinoma, throat tumors, imposthumes (seed decoction); relieves congestion by drawing the blood to the surface as in head afflictions, neuralgia and spasms, for treating alopecia, epilepsy, snakebite, and toothache (seed);

Cicuta virosa

In the treatment of epilepsy, meningitis, other ailments affecting the brain, as a local anodyne in rheumatic and neuralgic complaints, and gout

Cinnamomum cassia

As a pain reliever (including those associated with the uterus), laxative, astringent, carminative, liver and heart tonic, in reducing fever, neuralgia, edema and ascites. It is used to assist and flavour other drugs, being helpful in diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, and to relieve flatulence.

Elaeocarpus sphaericus

Its fruits are considered as sour, thermogenic, appetizer and sedative which are useful in coughs, neuralgia, bronchitis, cephalalgia, anorexia, manic conditions, stimulating the heart and brain conditions. Its fruit-stones are considered sweet, cooling emollient, cerebral sedative, expectorant, liver tonic and febrifuge and are used in epileptic fits, manic conditions, melancholia, mental disorders, convulsions, insomnia, cephalalgia, hepatopathy, hypertension, bronchitis and fever.

Mentha arvensis

For neuralgia and inflammations of joints and muscles; in fever. Corn mint has antiseptic properties and it is effective for digestion. The tea made from the leaves is used in the treatment of fevers, headaches, digestive disorders and various minor ailments. The leaves are a remedy for stomach cancer.

Ocimum gratissimum

In neuralgia (seed); in rheumatism (leaves); in stomach ache, ringworm and as anthelmintic (leaf juice).

Persea americana

For dysentery (fruit skin); as a remedy for pyorrhea, on wounds, to relieve neuralgia, for diarrhea, sore throat and hemorrhage (leaves); to cure dandruff (seed powder); relieve toothache (seed); on skin eruptions (oil from seed)

Pimenta dioica

To treat arthrosis, athlete’s foot, bruise, candidiasis, cold, colic, corns, cramps, diabetes, diarrhea, dysmenorrhea, dyspepsia, fatigue, fever, gastric disorders, gingivosis, high blood pressure, mycosis, neuralgia, rheumatism, toothache, vaginosis.

Strychnos nux-vomica

For epilepsy and dysentery (stem bark); as a nervine tonic, in paralysis (due to lead poisoning), neuralgia, chorea, debility, impotence, spermatorrhea, rectal prolapses, blindness, heartburn, incontinence (urinary), rashes (from syphilis and leprosy); to treat fever, lack of digestive power, in atonic dyspepsia (seed powder).

Urtica dioica

Jaundice, kidney problems, bleeding of the uterus and nose, excessive menstruation, haemorrhoids, arthritis, rheumatism and eczema, as a diuretic (for relieving rheumatism and edema), astringent and as a substitute for thiazide treatment (without side effects) (plant); Externally, the plant is used to treat skin complaints, arthritic pain, gout, sciatica, neuralgia, haemorrhoids, dandruff etc.; as a tonic (flower and seed); for heart problems. Nettles have a long history of Use(s) in the home as a herbal remedy and nutritious addition to the diet. A tea made from the leaves has traditionally been used as a cleansing tonic and blood purifier so the plant is often used in the treatment of hay fever, arthritis, anaemia etc.

Veratrum album

In neuralgia; as an external application to kill lice, and cure the itch (decoction of root)
