An exotic ornamental tree, up to 15 m in height and 90-120 cm in girth. Bark ashy grey, longitudinally furrowed; leaves elliptic- lanceolate, coriaceous, cuspidate, sharply serrate, 10-25 cm long; flowers green, strongly scented, in yellow catkins; nuts brown, 25 mm in diam, ovoid, enclosed in a prickly involucre, 1-3 seeded. |
