It is an evergreen tree with light grey bark. Leaves are alternate, elliptic-rhomboid or obovate and acute or acuminate with more or less toothed margins towards the apex and rough on both the surfaces. The flowers are usually dioecious; the males in short peduncled heads or spikes and solitary or few together in the axils of the leaves. The berries are globose, about 1.2 cm long and yellow when ripe.
