The plant is a fulvous hairy herb. The leaves are linear to oblong, small and sub-sessile. 1 to 3 flowers occur together which are axillary and pedicelled. The sepals are linear to lanceolate and hairy.

The ethanolic extract of the plant reduces total serum cholesterol, triglycerides, phospholipids and non-esterified fatty- acids, improves mental aptitude and antianxiety (plant extract); antifungal (flower and leaf).

Convolvine, convolamine, phyllabine, convolidine, convoline, subhirsine, confoline, convosine, convolvidine and scopoline (plant); 6-O-methylhydroxy-coumarin, beta-sitosterol and ceryl alcohol (plant extract); dihydroxy-cinnamic acid and kaempferol (plant).

As a psychological stimulant, improving memory and as a tranquilizer (plant).It is reported to reduce mental tension.
