For asthma, with continual dyspnoea, non-paroxysmal, tightness in the chest and about the heart, bronchial irritation with constriction, sense of constriction, tightness or uneasiness in the rectum, accompanied or not with hemorrhoids, intestinal irritation with constriction and colicky pains near the umbilicus, rheumatism and piles

Alhagi pseudalhagi

Rheumatism (oil); for swellings and abscesses (root decoction); for fever (leaves); as a blood coagulant (flowers); for chest pain and headache (leaf infusion)

Allium macrostemon

In the treatment of stuffiness sensation and pain in the chest, angina pectoris, pleurisy, bronchitis, diarrhoea and tenesmus in cases of dysentery (plant)

Capparis tomentosa

To cure madness, snakebite, headache, impotence, sterility in women (plant); for asthma (leaf); for chest pains (bark)

Citrus aurantifolia

In indigestion and as an anthelmintic (fruit juice). Both the leaves and the flowers are antispasmodic, digestive and sedative, in the treatment of stomach problems, sluggish digestion, dyspepsia, constipation, abdominal distension, stuffy sensation in the chest, prolapse of the uterus, rectum and stomach. The seed and the pericarp are used in the treatment of anorexia, chest pains, colds, coughs etc.

Citrus medica

In kidney stones, vomiting, as a laxative and anthelmintic (root); as a tonic and stimulant (fruit), to treat tastelessness due to fever, intrinsic haemorrhage, anaemia, jaundice, hiccough, asthma, vomiting, pain in cardiac region, colic, pox, calculus and gravels, dental caries, for easy delivery, foul smell in flatus, erysipelas, headache, anorexia during pregnancy and earache.

Citrus reticulata

In the treatment of dyspepsia, gastro-intestinal distension, cough with profuse phlegm, hiccup and vomiting (pericarp); in the treatment of dyspepsia, gastro-intestinal distension, coughs and profuse phlegm (endocarp); in the treatment of pain in the chest and hypochondrium, gastro-intestinal distension, swelling of the liver and spleen and cirrhosis of the liver (unripened green exocarp); in the treatment of hernia, lumbago, mastitis and pain or swellings of the testes (seeds)

Cleome gynandra

Used as a poutice on sores infested with maggots (seed paste); curing coughs (infusion); to cure diseases such as scurvy, to improve eyesight, provide energy and cure marasmus (leaves); squeezed into ears, nostrils and eyes to treat epileptic fits and earache (leaf sap); facilitate childbirth in pregnant women, treat stomach-ache and constipation, treat severe thread-worm infection, relieve chest pains (boiled leaves or roots); in the treatment of scorpion stings and snake bites (plant).

In the treatment of colds, fevers and headaches, insomnia, irritability and a stuffy sensation in the chest; to snakebite (bruised leaf); blindness and opacity of the cornea (flowers); oedema, dysuria, chest fullness, decreased perspiration, the initial stages of flu and arthralgia (sprouts)

Homonoia riparia

For hemorrhoids, in piles, stone in the bladder, gonorrhoea, syphilis and chest pain (root decoction) and urinary problems (stone of fruit); as a poultice for skin diseases (pounded leaves)

Paederia foetida

Hemorrhoids, in piles, inflammation of spleen, liver and chest pain (root); as a tonic (root and leaf); in rheumatism (plant); used as poultice to relieve distension of abdomen due to flatulence and also used in herpes (leaves); to children in diarrhoea (leaf juice); for vesical calculi (leaf decoction).

Perilla frutescens

For alleviating spasms, as a sedative, antiasthmatic, stimulating the secretion of gastric juices and as a tonic (plant); colds, chest stuffiness, vomiting, abdominal pain etc (leaves); to cuts and wounds (leaf juice); for morning sickness (stem)

Salvia miltiorrhiza

In treating cardiovascular diseases such as atherosclerosis, vascular disorders and chestpain, inhibits HIV infection in human T lymphocyte cells and mononuclear phagocytic lineage cells.

Sanguinaria canadensis

HIV/AIDS, asthma, bronchitis, atonic, dyspepsia, crouph, heart disease weakness and palpitation of the heart, pulmonary consumption, nervous irritation, torpid liver, scrofula, dysentery, ulcers, fungoid growths and cancerous affections.

Solanum indicum

Toothache, colic and as an antiemetic (root); expectorant and carminative (root and plant); for asthma, fever, catarrh, chest pains, colic, cough (dry and spasmodic)and edema (plant).

Solanum xanthocarpum

Cough, asthma, bronchitits, dropsy, leprosy, constipation, flatulence, sore throat, tonsilitis, gum diseases, snake bites, heart disease, chest pain, certain types of fever, muscular pains, gonorrhoea, dysuria, enlargement of the liver and spleen and stomach. Leaves are applied locally to relieve pain. The juice of berries is used in sore throat. Like roots, seeds are also administered as an expectorant in asthma and cough. The plant is credited with diuretic properties and is used to cure dropsy. Its juice is mixed with whey and ginger and given in fevers. The juice of the leaves, mixed with black pepper, is prescribed in rheumatism.

Sphaeranthus indicus

Useful in liver and gastric disorders (plant juice); in chest-pains, cough, and piles (root decoction); for skin diseases and as a nerve tonic (powdered leaves); Anthelmintic (seed and root); to treat diabetes (flower).

Valeriana officinalis

Good for emotional problems, such as anxiety and in headaches, insomnia, palpitations etc. Valerian has a remarkable influence on the cerebro-spinal system, and is used as a sedative to the higher nerve centres in conditions ofnervous unrest, St. Vitus's dance, hypochrondriasis, neuralgic pains and the like. The drug allays pain and promotes sleep. It is used for nervous overstrain, as it possesses none of the after-effects produced by narcotics. Oil of Valerian is employed as a popular remedy for cholera, in the form of cholera drops. The juice of the fresh root, under the name of Energetene of Valerian, has of late been recommended as more certain in its effects, and of value as a narcotic in insomnia, and as an anti-convulsant in epilepsy. Having also some slight influence upon the circulation, slowing the heart and increasing its force, it has been used in the treatment of cardiac palpitations. It is also used internally in the treatment of painful menstruation, cramps, hypertension, irritable bowel syndrome etc. Externally, it is used to treat eczema, ulcers and minor injuries.

Vitex peduncularis

In blackwater fever (leaf and bark) and chest pains (bark).

Zanthoxylum acanthopodium

Chronic rheumatism, typhoid and skin diseases and impurity of the blood, fever, children's ailments, common cold, cough, gastro-intestinal disturbances, heart ailments, kidney ailments, orthopedic ailments, pulmonary ailments and respiratory ailments. To relieve toothache (fruit juice)
