Acer spicatum

Achillea millefolium

For various maladies of the major organs and systems throughout the body, abscesses, atony, backache, hemorrhages (including those of the lungs), bruises, burns, cancer, colic, common cold, condyloma, cough, as a depurative agent, in fever,hypertension, menorrhagia, amenorrhoea, haemorrhoids with bloody discharge, atonic gastric and intestinal dyspepsia and leucorrhoea.

Achillea sibirica

Artocarpus heterophyllus

To relieve biliousness (seed starch); promotes healing of abscesses, snakebite and glandular swellings (latex mixed with vinegar); on wounds (heated leaves); for asthma, fever and diarrhea (root extract); in dysopia, opthalmities and pharyngitis (latex)

Avicennia officinalis

As a contraceptive and snakebite antidote (bark resin); used for healing skin lesions of smallpox (flesh of unripe fruit); heals inflammations, abscesses, ulcers and boils (poultice of unripe seeds).

Bletilla striata

In the treatment of haemorrhages of the stomach or lungs, uterine bleeding and nose bleeds, applied as a poultice to burns, cuts, abscesses and sores.

Brassica juncea

Folk remedy for arthritis, foot ache, lumbago, and rheumatism. Tumours, abscesses, colds, lumbago, rheumatism, and stomach disorders (seed); skin eruptions and ulcers (mustard oil); for headache (leaves).

Brassica nigra

For indurations of the liver and spleen, carcinoma, throat tumors, imposthumes (seed decoction); relieves congestion by drawing the blood to the surface as in head afflictions, neuralgia and spasms, for treating alopecia, epilepsy, snakebite, and toothache (seed);

Careya arborea

Snakebite antidote (fruit and bark), in treating body pain, fever, cold, cough, and leucoderma. The plant parts are used to treat snakebite, ulcers, healing wound, cough, cold, abscesses and dysentery.

Carum carvi

Stomach problems, bronchitis, to increase the production of breast milk in nursing mothers (seed); rheumatism and lumbago (seed vapor); in cancer, cholera, abscesses, flatulence, halitosis, headache and as an emmenagogue; "Caraway water" is used as a veh.

Coptis chinensis

Controls bacterial and viral infections, relaxes spasms, lowers fevers and stimulates the circulation, for diarrhoea, acute enteritis and dysentery, insomnia, fidget, delirium due to high fever, leukaemia, otitis media, acne, boils, abscesses and burns whilst it is also used as a gargle for mouth and tongue ulcers, swollen gums and toothache (root).

Curcuma longa

Relieving pain associated with purulent ophthalmia (rhizome decoction), for abscesses, amenorrhea, anemia, asthma, colds, jaundice, conjunctivitis, purifying blood, as a tonic to the stomach, diarrhea, dysentery, gonorrhea, kidney stones and reducing fever.

Cynanchum atratum

In the treatment of coughs and hectic fevers, haematuria, acute urinary tract infection, pharyngitis, abscesses and snake bites, for sore throat, boils, and sores (root)

Desmodium triflorum

In diarrhea, dysentery, to relieve burns, to promote healing of wounds and abscesses, convulsions and stimulating the flow and/or secretion of milk (leaf); to treat bilious complaints, diarrhoea and galactagogue (root)

Dioscorea batatas

Stimulates the stomach and spleen and has a tonic effect on the lungs and kidneys (plant); in the treatment of tiredness, weight loss, poor appetite, poor digestion, chronic diarrhoea, asthma, dry coughs, frequent or uncontrollable urination, diabetes, emotional instability, to ulcers, boils and abscesses (tuber); to treat snakebites and scorpion stings (leaf juice)

Dryopteris crassirhizoma

As a worm expellent for humans, in the treatment of internal haemorrhage, uterine bleeding, mumps, feverish illnesses, abscesses, boils, carbuncles and sores (root)

Dryopteris cristata

For tape worms (male fern); in the treatment of internal haemorrhage, uterine bleeding, mumps, feverish illnesses, abscesses, boils, carbuncles and sores (root)

Dryopteris filix-mas

Destroying intestinal worms and as a fungicide (on the skin). The male fern is one of the most popular and effective treatments for tape worms. The root contains an oleoresin that paralyses tapeworms and other internal parasites and has been used as a worm expellent. The root is also taken internally in the treatment of internal haemorrhage, uterine bleeding, mumps and feverish illnesses. Externally, the root is used as a poultice in the treatment of abscesses, boils, carbuncles and sores.

Duchesnea indica

For boils and abscesses, weeping eczema, ringworm, stomatitis, laryngitis, acute tonsillitis, snake and insect bites and traumatic injuries (whole plant); to activate the blood circulation (flowers); to cure skin diseases (fruit)

Ficus benghalensis

For lumbago, rheumatism, external pains, sores and ulcers, soles of the feet when cracked or inflamed and toothache (latex); in diarrhea and dysentery (bark and young bud infusion); as a poultice in abscesses (heated leaves); in diabetes (bark); as a tonic (bark and seed); in vomiting, to scalp to grow hair long (paste) and for menorrhagia (root); in gonorrhoea (root-fibres); is good tonic, effective in diabetes, dysentery, gonorrhoea and in seminal weakness (infusion of bark).

Forsythia viridissima

To treat carbuncles, mastitis, inflammation, suppuration, lymphadenitis and suppressed menstruation

Hedyotis diffusa

Biliousness, debility, depression, depurative, asthma, jaundice, internal ulcers, appendicitis and toothache; Used externally for snakebite, boils, abscesses and severe bruising.

Malva sylvestris

The plant is used in painful complaints of the urinary organs, gravel and pulmonary disorders (such as whooping cough) and in inflammations and abscesses of the skin. The leaves and flowers are the main part used, their demulcent properties making them valuable as a poultice for bruise, inflammations, insect bites etc, or it is taken internally in the treatment of respiratory diseases (whooping cough, coughs, bronchitis) and digestive problems. The plant is a laxative for young children. Decoctions of the plant, especially of the root, are very useful where the natural mucus has been abraded from the coats of the intestines.

Martynia annua

Scorpion sting (plant); and in epilepsy, and applied to tuberculous glands of the neck (leaf); for sore throat (juice); in inflammations (fruit); to the bites of venomous insects (Nut paste); on wounds (leaf paste); in itching and abscess (seed oil)

Michelia champaca

For indigestion, boils, itching, nausea and fever (fruit and flower); as an abortifacient (bark). ; roots and are applied to abscesses; in dyspepsia, nausea and fever (infusion of flower); in vertigo and useful in cephalagia, opthalmia, gout and rheumatism (flower oil); for healing cracks in feet (seeds and fruits).

Mirabilis jalapa

It is used in the treatment of dropsy. The leaves are used to reduce inflammation. A decoction of them is used to treat abscesses. The leaf juice is used to treat wounds, conjunctivitis, edema, diarrhoea, indigestion,fungal infections, inflammation, pains and swellings.A paste of the root is applied as a poultice to treat scabies and muscular swellings.

Myroxylon balsamum

For asthma, colds and flu, rheumatism and external wounds (leaves and fruit); for abscesses, asthma, bronchitis, catarrh, headache, rheumatism, sores, sprains, tuberculosis, venereal diseases, and wounds (sap)

Nigella sativa

In biliousness, colic, constipation, debility, fever, headache, herpes, jaundice, ophthalmia, parturition, rheumatism, sores, septicemia, sciatica, anal sclerosis, stomachache; to increase the secretion of milk, are good for digestive and menstrual disorders, insufficient lactation and bronchial complaints, soothing stomach pains and spasms and easing wind, bloating and colic, to treat abscesses, haemorrhoids and orchitis (seeds); to remove lice from the hair (powdered seed).

Oldenlandia auricularia

For dysentery, colitis, diarrhea and cholera (plant decoction); also used as an emollient application to abscesses and as a salve for wounds.

Phellodendron amurense

In the treatment of acute diarrhoea, dysentery, jaundice, vaginal infections including Trichomonas, acute urinary tract infections, enteritis, boils, abscesses, night sweats and skin diseases.

Phellodendron chinense

For acute diarrhoea, dysentery, jaundice, vaginal infections including Trichomonas, acute urinary tract infections, enteritis, boils, abscesses, night sweats and skin diseases (bark)

Piper betle

Increasing the secretion of gastric juices (leaf); alleviating spasms and as an antiseptic (essential oil); abscesses, sores and cuts, asthma, bronchitis, cancer, catarrh, colic, cough, diphtheria, dysentery, earache and nose.

Pistacia vera

For the treatment of abdominal ailments, abscesses, amenorrhoea, bruises, chest ailments, circulation, dysentery, gynecopathy, pruritus, rheumatism, sclerosis of the liver, sores and trauma (plant)

Scutellaria barbata

In the treatment of liver, lung and rectal tumors (Wang et al., 1996); hepatitis, cirrhosis, ascites, abscesses, ulcers in stomach, pharyngitis, arthritis, hay fever and poisonous bites (Whole herb); to wounds (plant juice)

Smilax zeylanica

Rheumatism, spermatorrhoea, dysentery and in venereal diseases (root). A decoction of the bulbous roots is used to promote healing of sores, swellings and abscesses. In Ayurvedic practice, the roots are used to treat diseases of the nervous system and urinary disorders.

Solanum melongena

Hemorrhoids, as a stimulant and lowering blood cholesterol (seed). It is also used as an antidote to poisonous mushrooms. It is bruised with vinegar and used as a poultice for cracked nipples, abscesses and haemorrhoids. A decoction is applied to discharging sores and internal haemorrhages. A soothing and emollient poultice for the treatment of burns, abscesses, cold sores and similar conditions can be made from the leaves. Aubergine leaves are toxic and should only be used externally. The ashes of the peduncle are used in the treatment of intestinal haemorrhages, piles and toothache. A decoction of the root is astringent.

Stellaria media

As a plaster in swolen areas and broken bones, to relieve constipation, useful in rheumatism, inflammations of the digestive, renal, respiratory and reproductive tracts, asthma, congestion, and bronchitis, obesity, high cholesterol, in severe inflammations of skin, such as erysipelas, scalds and burns, crural ulcers, haemorrhoids, eczema, to soothe severe itchiness and inflammations of eyes (plant); as a poultice or ointment for skin irritation and inflammation as well as for skin ulcers. Boils, carbuncles, and abscesses

Trigonella foenum-graecum

As a tonic, emollient (in rheumatism, abscesses, boils and ulcers), inflammations in the intestinal tract, bronchitis, increasing the secretion of gastric juices, hemorrhoids, diabetes, diarrhea and in veterinary medicine (as an ointment, emollient).

Xanthium strumarium

In leucoderma, epilepsy, in chronic malaria, leucorrhoea and urinary diseases (plant); in smallpox, in cancer and scrofula (root); on ulcers, boils and abscesses (root extract); in the treatment of rheumatism, diseased kidneys and tuberculosis (plant infusion); allergic rhinitis, sinusitis, catarrh, rheumatism, rheumatoid arthritis, constipation, diarrhoea, lumbago, leprosy and pruritis (fruits)
